The History of the International Academy of Information Technology and Quantitative Management:

Theory of management and business practice has increased the world productivity and human living standards. The rapid development of information technology since 1990's has been a great drive power in speeding up the efficiency of management theories, such as finance, economics, monetary markets, and accounting, used in human daily life. It has been evident that information technology heavily improves management performance; especially any management with data-based quantitative analysis. The needs of quantitative management also affect the advancement of information technology.

However, the existing international associations either favor for information technology or focus on management analyses. Some associations emphasize the use of information technology to improve management performance, but do less on how management tools can reshape the development of information technology.

Since 1996, the Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI) of Information Science, Technology and Engineering in Nebraska has a very successful experience to bring business leaders, industry partners, educators, scholars, and professionals together to provide a top-flight education to students interested in pursuing careers in fields of information science, technology and engineering.

In 2007, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has established China's first national research center "The Chinese Academy of Sciences Research Center on Fictitious Economy & Data Science (CASFEDS)" to merge the research activities in economy, finance and data mining at Beijing.

International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making (IJITDM), founded by Yong Shi in 2002, has published about 400 papers, contributed by more then 900 authors from 48 different countries in the world. All of these publications are across the fields of information technology and quantitative management. This journal will serve as a good start in building communication platforms to enhance the exchanges of ideas, research findings and business practice related to information technology and quantitative management. At the Big Data era, it is just a right time to consider how to physically bring educators, scholars, policy makers, and professionals around the world in the fields of information technology and quantitative management together to exchange their fresh thoughts, creative ideas, research findings and business experience to further benefit humanity.

This new organization shall be called International Academy of Information Technology and Quantitative Management (IAITQM), which covers any information technology driven research and practices as well as Management issues in terms of data analyses. Currently, IAITQM has given a birth to Business Analytics (BA) and/or Business Intelligence (BI). In the future, IAITQM can produce more new fields to fundamentally change human lives.
